This month Simon and Phil welcome racecourse commentator and broadcaster, Mike Cattermole, to Inside The Rails. After discussing their syndicate runners and highlighting some of the benefits of shared racehorse ownership, Simon and Phil reflect on the Epsom Derby meeting and Royal Ascot and look at some of the other subjects that have hit the racing headlines recently. Mike Cattermole provides a great insight into his journey into broadcasting and calling the horses from the commentary box and shares a couple of amusing stories from his time as a broadcaster.

After discussing racecourse going reports over the last couple of episodes, Simon and Phil take the opportunity to interview Mike Maher, managing director of Turftrax, the company behind the “going stick” readings taken at all UK racecourses. Mike has the dream job of visiting major race meetings both in the UK and around the world to help assess the ground conditions for racing.
The guys also discuss their recent runners and highlight why syndicate ownership is something all keen racegoers should consider, as well as reviewing and previewing some of the major actions on the track.

Simon and Phil have been back at the races with runners this month and discuss these along with their recent visit to the Ownership Day at Newbury. The guys then welcome Chris Dixon as this month’s guest on the podcast. Chris is a jockey agent, broadcaster, race planner and syndicate manager, so there was plenty to discuss. It was great to learn more about Chris’ various roles and how he got into racing.

Shared ownership through syndicates and racing clubs make this an affordable option and two syndicate managers, Phil Boyle from BG Racing and Simon Double from Solario Racing started Inside The Rails to provide listeners with an insight into the ownership experience.
Each month the guys review what is going on in horse racing and with the horses that they own and then they interview a guest from within the horse racing industry. Trainers, jockeys, broadcasters and those who run the sport have all made appearances on Inside The Rails.
