Tuesday Aug 01, 2023
Tuesday Aug 01, 2023
Having learned how to pronounce Caldean last month, the guys are back in the classroom this month, to learn how to correctly say the name of this month’s guest, Stefano Cherchi. Now that we know that the “Ch” is pronounced in the same was as “Chianti” wine, we will be getting it right in the future!
Phil and Simon have been all over the country in July finishing up at the Racehorse Syndicates Association Race Day at Nottingham. The guys review this and the rest of their month and they look ahead to their upcoming syndicate runners before chatting about the best of the racing in the last few weeks.
They are joined by jockey, Stefano Cherchi, who has recently ridden enough winners to lose his weight claim. He chats about that along with his journey into racing and his hopes for the future.

The Application of Science
Monday May 01, 2023
Monday May 01, 2023
After our first double-guest episode last month, we are at it again when we are joined by joint-training licence holders, Daniel and Claire Kubler. Daniel and Claire combine some fascinating modern science with some good old-fashioned horsemanship in the training of their horses and provide Simon and Phil with an insight into how this has helped them to succeed on the racecourse. Ahead of the interview, Simon and Phil look back at the Aintree Grand National won by a syndicate and discuss their own horses.

The Original Racecourse Announcer
Saturday Apr 01, 2023
Saturday Apr 01, 2023
We are all used to hearing someone on the racecourse public address announcing winners and presentations and providing other details on a race day. Laurie Brannan was the first person to carry out this role back in the 1960s and with his son Philip still doing that job at Newbury and Goodwood, the Brannans are well used to a microphone! This month, they both joined Simon and Phil on Inside The Rails to discuss how racecourse announcing began and to recount some stories from their experiences on the racecourse. Before the interview, Simon and Phil talk about their syndicate runners and the recent syndicate showcase race day at Warwick racecourse as well as looking back at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival which Phil attended.

Life After Scudamore
Wednesday Mar 01, 2023
Wednesday Mar 01, 2023
This month, Simon and Phil have both been racing at Lingfield Park with runners on the same day! They look ahead to the Cheltenham Festival before they are joined by leading jumps trainer, David Pipe. David looks back at his journey into racing and the long relationship between the Pipe and Scudamore families started by his father Martin, whose stable jockey was Peter Scudamore, and continued through David and Peter’s son Tom. The recent retirement of Tom leaves a big hole in the team at Pond House Stables. David also identifies some of his favourite horses from the past and looks ahead to his possible runners at the Cheltenham Festival in 2023.
